What Does Rūmu Mean?
The name Rūmu comes from the Japanese term rūmu-wea (ルームウェア), a modern expression used for comfortable clothing associated with relaxing at home.
We liked the idea behind it: clothing where comfort and ease come first.
Our interpretation takes that philosophy beyond the house. The Rūmu Tee is designed to have the comfort of something you might traditionally associate with loungewear, but with enough weight, structure and proportion to become part of an everyday wardrobe.
It’s relaxed clothing, but not necessarily clothing for relaxing.

At the heart of the Long Sleeved Rūmu Tee is its fabric.
We wanted something considerably more substantial than a conventional T-shirt, giving the garment enough weight and structure to hold its shape while remaining comfortable to wear.
The result is a heavyweight 450gsm cotton jersey, creating a long-sleeved tee that sits somewhere between a traditional T-shirt and a lightweight sweatshirt. The additional weight also makes it an ideal base layer through the cooler months, worn beneath tailoring or outerwear.
Inspired by Vintage Sportswear
The proportions of the Long Sleeved Rūmu Tee take their cues from vintage sportswear, where simple jersey garments were often shorter, wider and more generously cut than many contemporary T-shirts. Our version follows the same philosophy.The Rūmu Tee is cut with an oversized, cropped fit, creating volume through the body without unnecessary length. The substantial 450gsm cotton gives the silhouette structure and allows the garment to hold its shape when worn. It's intentionally simple, with the character coming from the fabric, weight and proportions rather than unnecessary detailing.
